How do I renew my driver's license in Ohio?
Ava's answer: Ohio BMV allows renewal of a current or recently expired (under 6 months) license online or at a deputy registrar, as a Compliant (REAL ID) or Standard card.
- Check license status: Current or expired under 6 months can renew; longer requires a temporary permit and retesting.
- Choose Compliant or Standard: Each requires different identity documents.
- Renew online or at an agency: BMV Online Services or any deputy registrar.
- License term: Four or eight years; 65+ get four years and can't renew online.
- Find an official office if you need to go in person: Use the agency's official office finder: https://www.bmv.ohio.gov/find-a-deputy-registrar.aspx
