Our 2030 plan

A checked answer for every motor-vehicle question, in every state

By 2030 most people will get their DMV answer from an assistant rather than a website. DMV.ai is building the source those assistants can safely quote: one short, plainly written answer per task per state, each carrying the agency's own sentence, the link it came from and the date a person last checked it.

The work is broken into 333 tracked points across four phases. This page shows where each phase actually stands — including the parts that have not started.

A point counts as complete only when its stated finish test passes. Nothing is marked complete because it is nearly done.

    The four phases

Phase A — Make the answers readable by machines

    0–90 days

Answers have to exist in the page itself, with a named source and a review date, before any answer engine can quote them. Until this is finished, nothing later in the plan can work.

Phase B — Cover every state and every task

    3–9 months

One checked, quotable answer for each motor-vehicle task in each state, written as a short standalone fact rather than a long article. Coverage only counts once a person has approved the quote.

Phase C — Be callable, and be cited

    9–18 months

Much of the demand in 2030 never opens a website. This phase makes DMV.ai answerable through assistants and earns citations from sources that answer engines already trust.

Phase D — Measure and defend the lead

    Ongoing

Track how often DMV.ai is the cited source, and keep the freshness and review record that a competitor cannot copy quickly.

    The nine workstreams

Each phase is delivered through these workstreams. The bar is the share of that workstream's points that have passed their finish test.

    Render & retrievability

    —

Client-injected head tags and client-rendered answers are invisible to social crawlers and to most AI crawlers. Nothing else in this roadmap works until the HTML contains the answer.

    Entity & knowledge graph

    —

Answer engines resolve entities, not URLs. DMV.ai must be a machine-resolvable thing with stated scope, operator and limits.

    Coverage matrix

    —

    Answer-object architecture

    —

Content is authored as atoms an engine can lift verbatim, not as prose pages.

    Freshness & provenance

    —

By 2030 the differentiator is not how much content exists but how fast it becomes wrong and how fast we catch it.

    Agent surfaces

    —

A large share of 2030 demand never loads a page. Be callable.

    Authority & citation acquisition

    —

Models trust what trusted sources cite. Earn citations with data nobody else has. No link buying, ever.

    Measurement of AI visibility

    —

Ranking reports will not describe 2030 demand. Measure citation share.

    Moat & defensibility

    —

What a competitor cannot replicate in eighteen months.

What will not change on the way there

    • Every published answer carries the exact sentence from the agency's own page, the source link and the date it was last reviewed.
    • DMV.ai is not a government agency and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for one.
    • DMV.ai does not file, submit, book or pay on anyone's behalf, and cannot guarantee that any agency accepts anything.
    • Where a state or task has no checked source yet, the page says so instead of guessing or borrowing another state's rule.

    What you can use today

Published, source-checked answers are already readable by state, and Ava can walk you through a task in plain English. Anything described above as in progress or not started is a plan, not a feature you can use now.
