How do I renew my driver's license in Maine?
Ava's answer: Maine residents with an active non-commercial license can usually renew online through Rapid Renewal, or at any BMV branch.
- Check online eligibility: Available if you already provided legal presence and residency proof and aren't due for a vision screening or name change.
- Renew online or at a branch: Use Rapid Renewal with your SSN and a credit card, or visit any BMV branch.
- Vision screening: Required at the first renewal after 40, every second renewal after that, and every renewal after 62; those renewals are in person.
- Receive credential by mail: Mailed only to the address on file.
- Find an official office if you need to go in person: Use the agency's official office finder: https://www.maine.gov/sos/bmv/branch-hours-locations
