Ava's answer
Virginia requires notifying DMV within 30 days. One change can update your residence, mailing and vehicle registration addresses; a card showing the new address is bought separately.

Steps
6 steps
- Within 30 days: A PO box or business address isn't accepted as a residence.
- Change it online: Update your residence, mailing and/or vehicle registration mailing address.
- Other ways: Call (804) 497-7100, book a customer service center appointment, or mail form ISD 01.
- New card isn't automatic: Buy a new license/ID or revised registration card if you want the new address printed.
- Your vehicles and local taxes: Give your name, customer number, title number and last 4 of VIN for each vehicle. Tell your old and new locality's Commissioner of Revenue to avoid wrong personal property tax.
- Moving out of Virginia?: A non-Virginia address can cancel your license/ID unless an exception applies (for example active-duty military).
