Steps
6 steps
- Report within 1 week: N.J.S.A. 39:3-36 requires reporting a new address within one week of moving.
- Change it online: Log in with your license number, or the 'DL' number on your registration card if you don't have a NJ license/ID.
- Print your confirmation letter: The system gives an immediate printable letter proving the change. Address labels are no longer mailed.
- New documents are optional: A duplicate license with the new address costs $11; updated registration documents cost $5 ($11 for a 4-year registration). Order at an agency after the change with 6 points of ID and proof of address.
- Mail option: You can also mail the request to the Database Corrections Unit.
- At renewal: Responding to a renewal notice gets you a credential with the new address by mail, in about 2 weeks.
