Ava's answer
Illinois requires notifying the Secretary of State within 10 days. Online changes are free, but license and vehicle records are separate systems, and a corrected license card requires an office visit and fee.

5 steps
- Report within 10 days: Illinois law requires notifying the Secretary of State within 10 days of moving.
- Change both online, free: Use the ilsos.gov Address Change service. License/ID and vehicle registration are different systems, so submit each.
- Vehicle registration card: No fee unless you want a corrected registration ID card ($3). You can also mail the Notice of Address Change form.
- New license or ID card: To update the card itself, visit a DMV facility with acceptable ID and pay the fee.
- CDL holders: Get a corrected CDL card in person within 30 days of moving.
