How do I replace a lost driver's license or ID in California?

Ava's answer
If your California license or ID is lost, stolen or damaged, you can request a replacement. Regular driver's licenses can be replaced online; ID cards and commercial licenses need an office visit.
- Driver's license: request online: Use the online replacement application. ID cards and CDLs can't use it.
- ID or CDL: fill out the application: Use the online application, then finish at an office.
- Visit a DMV office: Make an appointment or check walk-in wait times. Your photo is validated and thumbprint scanned.
- Watch your mail: The card arrives in three to four weeks. After 60 days, check card status online.
