How do I get a motorcycle license in California?

Ava's answer
California has two motorcycle license classes, M1 and M2. Riders under 21 need a permit for six months and a training course; riders 21 and older can take the course or pass a DMV driving test.
- Pick your class: M1 covers any two-wheeled motorcycle. M2 covers mopeds and motorized bicycles.
- Under 21: permit and course: Hold a motorcycle instruction permit at least six months and complete the California Motorcyclist Training Course.
- Apply and visit a DMV office: Complete the application, pass a vision exam and knowledge test, and have your photo taken.
- Show training or take the riding test: Bring the DL 389 training certificate, or book a riding test appointment. Tests aren't given without one.
