How do I get a disabled parking placard in California?

Ava's answer
Californians with qualifying mobility or vision impairments can get a disabled person parking placard or plates. New and replacement placards can be ordered online, or you can apply by mail or at an office with form REG 195.
- Check that you qualify: For example, loss of use of the legs or both hands, a disease that substantially impairs mobility, needing an assistive device, or documented vision problems.
- Choose permanent, temporary or travel: Permanent placards expire June 30 of every odd-numbered year. Temporary placards last up to 180 days.
- Get the medical certification: A qualifying licensed medical provider completes and signs that section of form REG 195, unless an exception applies.
- Apply online, by mail or at an office: Placards can be ordered online. Plates need REG 195, your current registration card and surrender of your current plates.
